What are the requirements to participate?

You must have a GPA of 80+. If you do not, Baruch MAY look at your ELA Regents Score to see if you have a 75 or higher to determine eligibility. If you do not meet any of these requirements, you must reach out to Mr. Chu to request a personalized letter of recommendation.

What is CollegeNow?

In short, this is a partnership with MHA where you may take FREE college classes at Baruch College on Lexington Ave and 26th Street (only 7 short blocks from MHA!). The two courses most MHA students will take in the Fall 2024 are General Psychology and Business Fundamentals. If you prefer a different class, e-mail Mr. Chu directly.

Once you complete your registration, you will be enrolled in 1 of the classes based on the survey you completed. This class will be taken in lieu of an elective at MHA. If approved for the class, depending on your personalized program for the year, you MAY not be programmed for a 1st period class and will take this class at Baruch instead. Most CollegeNow classes begin at 4:00pm.

Supported by funding from the New York State Education Department, New York City Public Schools, and CUNY, College Now supports dual enrollment and dual credit programming opportunities in New York City. For NYC public schools CUNY’s College Now program is the largest dual enrollment program in New York City, and schools and students incur no additional cost for participating.

Why participate in College Now?

Dual enrollment students are more likely to graduate from high school, enroll in college, and complete college degrees.

Experience a college level course AT a college WITH a college professor while in high school to be better prepared for College. You can also get a head start financially and academically by earning FREE college credits with Baruch College that will transfer over with you to the college you enroll in when you graduate

…and what is dual enrollment?

Dual credit courses allow students to earn college credit while still enrolled in high school, providing them with a head start on their college education. By completing college-level coursework, students are exposed to rigorous academic challenges that prepare them for the academic demands of college. By awarding high school credit for dual credit courses, schools ensure that students receive recognition for their hard work and dedication, while also encouraging them to pursue higher education opportunities beyond high school; dual credit courses are not a replacement for high school learning, but instead open a pathway for students to continue their learning even after they have mastered the high school content. Overall, dual credit programs provide students with valuable academic and financial advantages that can help them succeed in college and beyond.
